Yep… I have to admit, given the choice of a luxury hotel room, or a camp site my sense of adventure takes a bit of a runner! Having said that who could resist the charm of these retro custom hand built caravans by The English Caravan Company.
UK based Joiner Richard Stark was asked by a client to refurbish an old caravan, he enjoyed it so much that he started The English Caravan Company in Feb 2010. Richard now makes three styles of caravan which take influence in their style from the 30′s through to the 50′s, yet have all the mod cons of the 21st Century…..Various options available including TV/DVD….Fridge, sink, solar panels to cocktail cabinets!
The designer feels that the positive reaction to these little home from homes is to do with their “quintessential englishness”, together with the nostalgia of bygone times where mobile phones and email were the thing of science fiction, and people enjoyed afternoon tea and cake, fish and chips by the sea out of newspaper and sand finding its way everywhere…..

There is a whole club of women that have classic vintage campers such as these and they go camping all over. I saw it in U. S. magazine called Maryjane’s Farm. Who needs mega motor homes? Honestly they are so grotesque on so many levels.

Great! I’d pick the hotel over the camping every time, but this idea is probably a happy medium – love it!

They are really fun, I would certainly be happy to try it out, although with my driving I think I may have to hire a chauffeur!
